Looking for events or activities in Western Oklahoma in 2020? Local events in Oklahoma are as fun as they are varied, especially for 2020! 

Here’s a few to write on your calendar:

Shows and Expos

There are few better ways to learn about a trade or interest than to go to a show or expo.

Here are a few sure to pique your interests:

30th Anniversary Heartland Cruise Car Show

When: June 19, 2020 – June 20, 2020

Where: Friday 6-9pm in Downtown Weatherford Saturday 9am-4pm in Rader Park

What better way to usher in the summer than with a car show? No matter your interest or knowledge of cars, there’s something for everyone at the Heartland Cruise Car show. Between the delicious local food vendors and beautiful arts and crafts, there’s something for the whole family to enjoy!

Southwest Farm and Home Expo

When: April 04, 2020 – April 05, 2020

Where: Elk City Convention Center 1016 E Airport Industrial Rd. Elk City, OK 73644

We take our farming seriously in Oklahoma, and nowhere is that more clear than at the Southwest Farm and Home Expo. Anybody who gardens, mows, or trims will be interested in the wares displayed every year. So will anybody interested in machinery or farm equipment. Food vendors and the latests farm tech – what more could you ask for? 

Just Between Friends Lawton

When: Apr 03, 2020- April 05, 2020

Where: Comanche County Fairgrounds, Lawton,  USA

Whether you have kids, are expecting, or are thinking about it, Just Between Friends Lawton is Oklahoma’s biggest child-care trade show, and a good event to check out! Come and see the latest in baby clothing, toys, equipment, strollers, maternity wear, play sets, and much more! 

Elk City Events

Elk City is a concentration of Oklahoma culture and history. As such, it hosts a variety of events throughout the year to honor that history! 

Tumbleweed Quilt Retreat in Elk City

When: Mar 20, 2020 to Mar 21, 2020

Where: Elk City Convention Center 1016 E Airport Industrial Rd Elk City, OK 73644

Quilting is as much a craft as it is an art form. The Tumbleweed Quilt Retreat brings together the quilting community for a day of crafting, tips, relaxation, and bonding. If you’re a quilter or are interested in learning about quilting, this is the place to be. 

Elk City Chili Cook-Off 

When: October 3, 2020

Where: Farm & Ranch Museum 2717 W 3rd St Elk City, OK 73644

If you can’t get enough chili, then you belong here. As temperatures start to dip, Elk City’s annual chili cook-off is there to warm the community’s bones. There’s a chili for everybody: from spicy meats to scrumptious beans, the Elk City Chili Cook-off will provide. 

Elk City Fall Festival

When: September 19, 2020 – September 20, 2020

Where: Convention Center 1016 E Airport Industrial Rd Elk City, OK 73644

Held every third weekend in September, the Elk City Fall Festival is the Elk City event to make! As one of western Oklahoma’s biggest arts and craft shows, you can expect to find the unexpected! Great gifts, art, and food make this event a great time every year.

Historical Events and Celebrations

Western Oklahoma is rife with history and culture. Learn about or remember our legacies and history through these fun events! 

Lawton-Fort Sill Freedom Festival in Lawton

When: June 27, 2020

Where: Elmer Thomas Park located at 3rd & NW Ferris Avenue

Hosting the largest, free fireworks displays in Oklahoma, the Lawton-Fort Sill Freedom Festival celebrates community togetherness and American independence. It’s a day full of family fun! 

Cheyenne-Arapaho Pioneer Day Celebration 2020

When: Apr 17, 2020 at 7 PM – Apr 18, 2020 at 9:30 PM

Where: SWOSU Pioneer Cellular Event Center 900 N 7th St, Weatherford, OK 73096

Come celebrate our history and community at the Cheyenne-Arapaho Pioneer Day Celebration! It’s an event-packed couple of days full of entertainment and food. Some things you’ll experience are world-class BBQ, flea markets, fun runs, rodeos, talent shows, arts and crafts, foraging, quilt shows, parades, and dancing.

Festivals 

A community that doesn’t have festivals isn’t one anybody wants to be a part of. Western Oklahoma has the festivals that are sure to pique your interests! 

International Festival 

When: September 25 – 27, 2020

Where: Elmer Thomas Park 501 NW Ferris Ave, Lawton, OK 73507

Celebrating the cultural diversity of Lawton, the International Festival encourages people of all backgrounds to celebrate our differences! With no attendance, parking, or concert fees, there’s no reason to miss out! 

Arts For All Festival

When: Saturday, May, 30th 2020

Where: Shepler Park 406 W Gore Blvd Lawton, OK 73501

The Arts For All Festival is Western Oklahoma’s biggest and most popular fine arts show. Artist from across the U.S. descend on Shepler Park to show and sell their world-class artworks. This festival features a jazz/blues stage and Oklahoma wine makers.
